It uses a different method to interface the parts of the code written
in fortran90 with those written in C. Namely, it enables the use of
the intrinc fortran "iso_c_binding" module (google it, if you want to
knowmore).

It is not the default yet, because it is not clear if the new method
is supported by all compilers, but when it is supported I find it it
more reliable.
