Two postdoctoral positions will soon be available to work in Stefano Baroni’s group at SISSA, Trieste, Italy.

Position number one will be to work on heat transport, mainly in disordered and strongly anharmonic systems. This position will suit a young scientist with a strong background in statistical mechanics, classical molecular dynamics and the theory of stochastic processes. Proficiency in electronic-structure theory will be a plus and the willingness and ability to acquire some a must.

Position number two will be to work in a mixed theory-experiment project, in collaboration with the Elettra synchrotron radiation center, on fast electron dynamics at the interface between 2D materials and organic overlayers. This position will suit a young scientist able and willing to work in full autonomy shoulder to shoulder with top experimentalists. Proficiency in electronic structure theory is a must.

More details on the two positions can be found following this link: https://stefano.baroni.me/postdoc-vacancies <https://stefano.baroni.me/postdoc-vacancies>

Trieste is a medium-sized city beautifully located at the most northerly spot of the Adriatic sea. The quality of life in the Trieste area is consistently praised in the reports of past and present PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. Local social life is lively, with cultural and natural attractions (theatres, sports, nightlife, the Karst highland, Venice, the Alps, and beautiful seaside resorts) a few strides to one hundred miles from the center of the city. Although the knowledge of the Italian language will of course facilitate social life, this is not strictly required for professional purposes, as English is the language currently spoken at SISSA. The salary being offered is compatible with a quite decent living standard.
