[Pw_forum] QUANTUM ESPRESSO INSTALLATION

Hi ,i installed all the requirements for the quantum espresso through ubuntu software centre.Any time  i open the software centre quantum espresso appears as one of the sofwares installed and the programs in it are run through the terminal.I am unable to uncompress the debian file containing the program and am unable to create a directory espresso.anytar (child): .: Cannot read: Is a directory
tar (child): At beginning of tape, quitting now
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now

gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
 time i try to uncompress i get this errorkindly assist on what could be the problem
