Hi Thomas,

adding the option -ffree-line-length-190 within your make.sys file 
should do it.

F90FLAGS       = $(FFLAGS) -x f95-cpp-input -fopenmp $(FDFLAGS) 
$(IFLAGS) $(MODFLAGS) -ffree-line-length-190

However, all Filippo said about the Intel compiler still remains. Use 
it, whether it is possible.
