if there is no error in namelist control, either the code is finding
nothing in the input stream, or the code is expecting something 
else as namelist delimiter. Experiment with settings of
XLFRTEOPTS  ("namelist=old" or "namelist=new") and with 
"&end" instead of "/", on just one processor.

it does, but many SP machines are configured in strange
ways that make interactive execution of a simple test 
program impossible
