[Q-e-developers] Quantum ESPRESSO v6.0, release planning

Hello QE developers!

more or less in one month time we will release Quantum ESPRESSO v6.0. This is going to be a big release, lot of things changed since v5.4 and many are still evolving into their final shape.

To collect a wider feedback from the entire community and to fix as many issues as possible we will release on QE-FORGE a "beta" package first. The beta package will be released on August 28th and it will be a single tar.gz which will contain everything in the current SVN. 

The v6.0 release composed by espresso-6.0.tar.gz and other packages will be tagged and packaged no later than September 25th. The exact timing really depends by the feedback we will receive from the "beta".

If you are a maintainer of an external package which has dependencies from core modules of QE then make sure your code is aligned with current SVN and it also compiles and runs successfully both serial and parallel otherwise we will not include it in the v6.0 release. To help the alignment process please get in touch with me and Paolo, a GIT mirror is in place to ease such operation and request to access it can be granted.
