I wanted to alert you of this introductory 2-week school in the field of <br>
materials simnulations, which will be held at ICTP (Trieste, Italy) from <br>
1 to 12 June 2026.<br>
<br>
It's one of the closing events of our Swiss MARVEL centre; importantly, <br>
80 full fellowships (travel, accommodation, and meals, targeted more at <br>
applicants from developing countries) and 40 partial fellowships <br>
(accommodation and meals) are available for participants not part of MARVEL.<br>
<br>
Please note that the application deadline is (already) 22 February 2026 <br>
for applicants requiring an Italian Visa, and 27 March 2026 for all <br>
other applicants. Applications can be submitted from the event page: <br>

This college is dedicated to junior researchers from all over the world, <br>
bringing together graduate students and early-career scientists to learn <br>
and explore the state-of-the-art in computational materials science in <br>
the era of AI, and to forge the next generation of researchers in the field.<br>
<br>
The two-week programme includes lectures and hands-on sessions on <br>
electronic-structure and atomistic simulations to understand, predict, <br>
and design material properties. It includes keynote talks and lectures <br>
by distinguished scientists (see poster at the conference website above) <br>
and covers first-principles methods, molecular dynamics simulations, and <br>
machine-learning approaches. The programme will also feature two poster <br>
sessions, one in each week, where participants can present and discuss <br>
their work, and open-mic sessions to brainstorm together.<br>
<br>
Last but not least, Quantum ESPRESSO will be one of the core <br>
codes/environments used in the afternoon hands-on.<br>
