The project involves performing <b>ab-initio molecular dynamics</b> simulations and <b>DFT</b> calculations of the thermal and photo degradation of polymer materials and related model compounds. </span><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">Specific job duties include the following: </span><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:black">Perform theoretical and simulation research; participate in collaborations, including with industrial partners; mentor and teach other lab members; publish high quality papers and articles; and deliver presentations. </span><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">A Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, polymer science, materials science, chemical engineering, or related field is required, as is a basic knowledge of organic chemistry. Some programming experience is preferred.</span><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"></span></p>

Across the street from the laboratory is the impressive new and technologically advanced </span><a href="http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/huntlibrary" target="_blank"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">Hunt Library</span></a><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">, and the campus also includes a variety of recreational amenities such as walking trails, a lake with a fishing pier, and an 18-hole golf course.
