The second stage of post-processing - the one described in th &PLOT namelist - can process more than one filplot file at a time. All the input files are multiplied by a user-specified weight and summed together. e.g. something like this:

&plot
  nfile=2
  filepp(1) = 'before.fil'
  filepp(2) = 'after.fil'
  weight(1) = +1
  weight(2) = -1
  ...
/
