Dear all:

I installed the quantum-espresso 3.0 and tried to run some examples to test it. However, it did not work. The output files contain no content. The problem is that there is undefined symbol " _intel_fast_memset" with pw.x. What should I do ?

  Thank you very much
  Regards
  Hui Cao

Dear Hui Cao,

here are some suggestions:

1) Do the previous versions compile ?
2) Does it work in serial ?
3) Does it work in parallel ?
4) Does it work with Atlas instead of MKL ?
5) Does it work with another software compiler ?

Often, it is too complicate for anyone to give advice on such
a generic question - we do not know which compilers you have installed,
which libraries, with processors, etc... And most of the problems
are obscure, complex to find out, and always dependent on an unusual
implementation of the above on the sepcific machine.

So, best luck...

Dear All:

I am sorry to ask a question not related to the topics of maillist.
I just want to know which distribution is good for building
HPC-cluster.My computers are AMD248-64bit cpu.
Recently, i tried to build with RHEL AS4.0, but failed due to unstable
NIS service. So , Would anyone have experience building
HPC cluster for AMD x86-64 CPU? Would you please give me some suggestion?

 Regards

Hai-Ping

hmmm. are you sure you are not overloading the headnode?
we've made good experiences with RHEL clones.

LH> HPC cluster for AMD x86-64 CPU? Would you please give me some suggestion?

you may want to dig through the resources at
https://www.liniac.upenn.edu/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=HomePage
especially the system administration section has a lot of useful hints
for the guys running quite a few clusters here at penn (9 in total, IIRC).

regards,
    axel.

I recommend you Rocks distribution, it's easy to install and management. =
it was just
took me one and half an hour to build a 16 node cluster. With this =
cluster distribution,=20
you can choose commercial RHEL 4, or its clone, such as CentOS.
